Megan's First Day of School

Megan started Kindergarten yesterday.

She was so excited. I took off work yesterday so that I could be here on first day. I did okay... I didn't cry!! I was nervous about getting her there and on time.

We got there a little early, which was good because the halls were packed with parents taking their kindergartner to school. Ryan and I were both anxious about leaving her. Lindsey wasn't too happy, because she wanted to stay and play with the toys.

When we got home... I knew that I need to be working on laundry and packing for our trip this weekend. But I was so anxious that I just wasted time on the computer for 2 hours until it was time to go pick Megan up.

Megan wasn't ready to leave, when Ryan and I picked her up. She was excited to tell us all about school. She kept saying that she wants to go again. I'm glad she likes school and I hope she keeps that attitude all through school. Or at least for several years. Today Ryan will have to get Megan to school by himself. I'm nervous for him, and hope Megan will get ready on time.

Asleep before 11pm!! It's a Miracle!!

Megan finally fell alseep before 11pm tonight. Since school starts next week, I have been trying to get her to bed earlier. I doesn't matter how early or late I make her go lay down she won't go to sleep. Last night she was awake until around 2am. I just keep hoping that when school starts she will be tired enough to go to sleep.

Now that I got her to sleep before midnight, we will have to work on her falling asleep in her bed!!

The Mystery of the Missing Key.... Solved!!

Yesterday I lost my car keys...I looked everywhere that I normally put them. I checked my purse, my laptop bag, on my desk, on the kitchen counter, my bedroom dresser, even the pockets of my pants I had worn the day before. I could not find my keys. I was really frustrated and running late for work. So I had no choice but to borrow Ryan's keys and continue my search when I got home.

When I got home the girls and I were in the kitchen and I asked Megan if she had seen my keys. She said that she hadn't. She didn't know where they were. Lindsey went to the fridge and started crying "Keys, Keys!!" Thinking that she was just repeating Megan and I, I told Lindsey to leave the fridge alone that I was making dinner. She kept crying, "Mommy, Keys...Mommy Keys". Then I thought well maybe she was thirsty and wants a drink. So to Lindseys excitement I opened the fridge. As I tried to get her a drink, she reached into the fridge and pulled out my keys. I don't know when or how she put my keys in the fridge... But I'm glad she remembered where she put them. Who knows how long it would have taken me to find them on my own.

1 Week and counting...

Megan and I went to the school and met her teacher yesterday. The school had an open house and we were able to go see her classroom and meet her teacher. We also found out that she will be in afternoon Kindergarten. I'm a little disappointed...I was hoping that she would be in the morning so I could take her to school. Oh well, Ryan will just have to take her and pick her up. Afternoon will probably be better for her because she is not a morning person. She is a grump if she gets up too early!! As hard as I try to get her to go to bed early...She won't. She will lay in bed and read or play.

Yea It's Not Mono!!

I finally got mine and Lindsey test results back. Lindsey had a virus and I had stress. I'm so glad it's not Mono!! Lindsey seems better today. She had a slight fever last night but her rash is gone. All the sleep she was getting the last week seems to have helped. I hate having sick kids!!

Megan ready for School!!

Megan is registered for school!! She is so excited. On Tuesday morning is the school open house. Ryan is going to take her to meet her teacher. She starts on Aug. 27th. I'm still not ready... It is so hard to believe that she is old enough to go. This coming week I have to take her school shopping. All she needs is a couple pairs of pants.

We won't know until next week who her teacher is and if she is going to be in morning or afternoon Kindergarten. I'm still hoping that she is in morning.... But if she gets in afternoon we will survive.

Lindsey is Sick

Lindsey has been sick for the last week. She had a fever of 104 on Monday. Tuesday the girls had an appointment for their yearly checkups so I waited until then to take Lindsey to see the doctor. At their appointment Lindsey doctor didn't think to much about her fever. She didn't have any other symptoms so he thought that she just had a virus.

Wednesday her fever hadn't gone down and she broke out in a rash. So I called her pediatrician office and got an appointment with the on call pediatrician. That doctor thinks she has Mono. So he sent us to the hospital for some test. That was awful!! I felt so bad so the nurse had to take blood. Lindsey screamed and I had to do everything not to cry with her. They also did an ultrasound to look at her spleen. Told us that we had to wait for the blood work. Because I wasn't feeling well, they suggested that I see my doctor and also be tested for Mono.

Thursday I went to the doctor and also had the blood work done for Mono. I call all day Thursday and Friday for the test results and they still don't have them. Today Lindsey fever is down but she is acting like she doesn't feel good. She also has been sleep 12-16 hours a day for the last 3 days. I'm hoping she can sleep off whatever is making her sick. I'm feeling better... Just really tired from being up all night with Lindsey. Monday we should know if we have Mono.

So I need to get into shape!!

Thanks to some inspiration from my sister Mandy, I have decide that I want to run the 4th of July 5K marthon in Provo next summer. I have always wanted to run a mathron. I was told as a teenager that I couldn't run because of my knee and I used that excuse for too long. I am excited about going running. I know 5K doesn't sound like much to a lot of people. But I am overweight and completely out of shape this is a huge goal for me!!

Last night I went for my first "run" since High School. Oh my gosh!! It is really a good thing I am giving myself a year to complete this goal. I "ran" a block... Not around the block...1 block. Then I walked 1 more block and walked the 2 blocks home.

Tomorrow I will try again!! Hopefully it won't take long before I will be able to run "around the block".

Another Fishing Trip

Last night Ryan and I took the girls to Utah Lake to try to fish again. We were hoping that we would have better lucky then we did at Burreston Pond. Sure enough on Ryan's second cast he caught a fish. He let Megan help him real it in but it got away. So Ryan tried again and he caught another fish. (We think it might have been the same fish.) This time he got it!! We were excited to caught our first fish.
We kept fishing hoping that we would be able to catch more. After a couple of hours of nothing and trying different spots we decided to go home. I saw a fish but could get it to take my line!! I was really frustrated because I all caught was moss.
When we got home the fish was still alive so we put it in some water in our kitchen sink to let the girls look at it. Megan did want to touch it but Lindsey wasn't afraid and kept trying to pick it up. Megan was very upset when Ryan killed it and began to fillet it. She cried for a good half an hour. She didn't want the fish to be dead. She wanted live fish.
When Ryan was done, I fried the fillets and had cut them into little piece for us all to try. I realized that I'm going to have a problem fishing. I really don't like fish. Megan wanted to try the fish. She told me that she had fish at Grandma Hathaway's house and liked it. So I gave her 2 little pieces and she ate them and wanted more. So after me, Ryan and Lindsey all tried a piece, Megan ate the rest... My little picky eater loves fish!! She said she won't cry next time we kill a fish if she gets to eat it!!

My Little CopyCat!!

Lindsey loves to copy everything that Megan does. When Megan gets in trouble she has to stand in the corner with her nose on the wall. She usually crys because she is in trouble and knows she did something wrong.

Last night Lindsey was playing in my computer desk drawer. I told her to get out of my desk and she won't listen so she got a little swat on the bottom. And she still won't leave my desk alone. So I asked her if she wanted to stand in the corner. And she looked at me with her "sad" eyes and said "No". I told her to leave my desk alone and I went into my bedroom.

A few seconds later a heard her crying, so I went back into the living room to see what was wrong. What I found made me laugh so hard, I had to go back into the bedroom. Lindsey was standing in the corner with her nose on the wall crying. (Just Like Megan) It was so funny.

I can only hope that Megan will continue to have a good influence on Lindsey. Hopefully some of things that Megan struggled with Lindsey will have an easier time with. (Like potty training!!)

My First Fishing Trip!!!

I went fishing for the first time yesterday. I've wanted to go fishing someday. But is wasn't high on my to do list. Megan has wanted to go fishing ever since she saw the Barbie fishing pole at Walmart. Ryan and I decided it was time to take her fishing. On Friday night we went to Walmart in Orem to get fishing poles and stuff.
I asked the guy working in sporting goods if he could help me pick out a good pole for beginners. He was an older man who loved to fish. He was a great help in finding a pole. He asked me if I knew how to cast a line, I said No. He asked me if I knew what to do when I caught the fish, I said No. He asked me if I knew how to cook the fish, I said No. He then asked if I knew what a fish was.... That made me laugh and I was glad I could answer YES!!

Yesterday afternoon with our new gear, Ryan and I load up the girls to go fishing. The guy at Walmart told us about this pond that he loves to fish in. He said that the water is really clear and you can see the fish. He also told us about the fish he had caught there and how big they were. This sounded great... So we drove the 40 miles to Burristons Pond in the town of Mona.

Burristons Pond was a huge disappointment. The water was clear and you could see fish... But they were little tiny. Whoever was in at the spot we found before us really trashed it. There was garbage in the water and cigarette butts all over the ground. We decided that since we drove all the way there we better try to caught something.

I was really proud of myself. My first cast... I did lose my hook and sinkers. Mostly because I didn't listen fully to Ryan's instructions. When I did what Ryan told me to do I did awesome. I could really get my line out into the pond. Megan loved to reel in the hook. She would wait until Ryan or I casted out line then reel it back in. Lindsey found so good dirt to play in. Like usual she was covered from head to toe in dirt by the time we left.

This was our only caught of the day.
Oh well...We decided that next time we will stay closer to home. We wanted to go up Hobble Creek canyon. Because it is only a few minutes from our house.

To end our day, when we were driving home, Santaquin was having a fireworks show. So we pull off the freeway and drove into town to watch them. We didn't get to see the whole show but we saw about 20 minutes. I'm still not sure who enjoyed them more, Ryan or the girls.

Seven Peaks!!

Last night was my company's summer work party. Every year the company rents Seven Peaks water park for a few hours. The park is closed to the public and only open to TGN employees and their families. Megan, Lindsey and I went last night. I have been working for the company for 4 years and this the first time that I have been to Seven Peaks. I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure what to expect and I wasn't looking forward to my coworkers seeing me in a swimming suit.

Megan was so excited about going, as soon as she saw the water she was ready to go. Lindsey on the other hand took awhile to warm up to the water. We played in the Wave pool and the kiddie pool. Megan loved the kiddie pool. It had a couple of little water slides for kids. She thought that was the best. I lost count of how many times she went down the slides. Lindsey and I floated around the pool and watched Megan. Lindsey kept fighting me wanting me to let go of her while we were in the water. The pool was only 2 or 3 feet deep but still too deep for Lindsey. I let go of her once and when she went under the water a little bit she decide it was okay for me to hold her.

The company also provided dinner, which was Great!! But I had to drag Megan out of the water so we could eat. She was so excited that she didn't eat much. She just wanted to play. I was grateful that they severed Hamburgers and chips because I was able to wrap it up and take it home. Megan was starving when we got home.

We finished our time in the wave pool, which Lindsey loved. Mostly because it is very gradual and she could touch the bottom. We even got a 2 person tube and floated around the pool for awhile. As it started to get dark, Seven Peaks set up a HUGE screen by the wave pool and played the movie "Enchanted". The girls and I stayed in the pool and watched part of the movie. We didn't stay for the whole movie because I didn't want to stay that late.

It was so much fun!! It was one of funnest days I have ever had . I only wish that Ryan could have been there. Next time I will have to remember to bring a camera.
